Camping Sunny Side × Homo Urbanus
!!!The event will take place in the Foyer Public, Theater Basel due to weather conditions!!!
7 PM
Lecture and discussion by and with the Hotel Regina collective and the S AM Swiss Architecture Museum
On view at S AM until August 27, the Homo Urbanus exhibition is dedicated to urbanites and their whimsical behaviors in public spaces. Hotel Regina smuggles a new behaviour into the Theaterplatz with their Camping Sunny Side project. The collective assumes a double role: they observe themselves and the visitors of the camping, making important social, ethnological and historical observations that may be of interest in 100 years.
To this end, the S AM, with the support of and in exchange with the SKKG, has mandated Hotel Regina to prepare an inventory list that will be compiled during the duration of Camping Sunny Side and left digitally and physically in the archive for the future curators of the S AM. It will be utilized in 100 years to dedicate an exhibition to this urban intervention.
On August 24, 2023 at 7 pm, Hotel Regina and S AM curator Andreas Kofler will talk about the first observations and the inventory experience to date and discuss the topic of preserving urban life with the residents of the campsite and passers-by. Because this too is an experiment in archiving, collecting and inventorying, and not least also in curating. Because the selection of what one preserves and documents for posterity and considers relevant in 100 years raises questions.
