Built in 1929-32, the Citroën garage in Brussels embodies key messages of modernity such as transparency, lightness, horizontality and confidence in a better future. Over time, many of these characteristics have been lost through additions, conversions or installations. As part of the transformation of the former car factory into the 40,000 m² KANAL — Centre Pompidou art and culture center, the project resulting from a competition returns to the original, self-assured aura of this modern monument.
